Our Procedure
A no scalpel vasectomy is a safe and easy procedure that usually takes around 15-20mins of actual procedure time. We allow 1 hour for each booking to ensure there is enough time so that we are not rushing!
The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic (you are awake). During the procedure, part of the tube carrying sperm (the vas deferens) is divided and cauterised. There are two such tubes, one for each testicle. Titanium clips are used to secure the vas. This results in a very low failure rate. No stitches are usually necessary to close the skin as the skin is punctured and stretched to access the tubes.
Dr Rahul Prasad is a vocationally registered GP who has extensive experience in performing No Scalpel Vasectomy procedures.

This fee covers any pre-procedure discussion, the actual procedure and any follow-up as needed.
Recovery
We recommend allowing 5-7 days for recovery. Be careful to avoid heavy lifting (>20kg) or other strenuous activity.

Vasectomy is considered a very reliable contraceptive method.
Failure rate is <1:2,000
We recommend a semen check at 3 months post procedure to ensure procedure worked as expected.
